Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that has been commercially extracted from environmentally sustainable corn cob. It is a white, crystalline powder that looks and tastes like sugar, with no unpleasant aftertaste. Zheijang Huakang offers an alternative wood-based xylitol, which is becoming very popular in North America. Due to Xylitol's endothermic properties, it gives a cool and fresh sensation when eaten. With 1/3 less calories than sugar and a low glycemic index, it makes a great diabetic sugar substitute. Polyol, one of the main chemical compounds in xylitol, is very hard for the human body to absorb, making this sugar-free sweetener great for applications to combat obesity. It is an anti-cariogenic, that prevents the growth of bacteria and acid, and may reduce the risk of tooth decay.

Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol being either white crystal powder or colorless liquid. It easily dissolves in water, is slightly soluble in ethanol and acetic acid and insoluble in organic solvents. It has no perceivable odor and exhibits a cooling sweetness. Sorbitol is about 50-70% as sweet as sucrose and contains the same heat values. It can be used as a sugar replacement in various applications.
